Gaza has always been a walled in prison and now Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is constructing a “security fence” that will encircle the West Bank. It’s primary purpose, according to Israeli spokesmen, is to prevent the suicide bombers from killing innocent Israelis. Many see it as an opportunistic land grab with license granted from the anti-terror fervor in the wake of September 11.
The wall reaches a height of 8 meters near Jerusalem and separates families, farmers from their fields and Palestinians from their hopes. In northern Israel where the wall is completed the number of suicide bombers has decreased dramatically
Anger and frustration are everyday staples in Gaza and are most evident during the weekly protests following Friday prayers. Members of Al Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade march through the streets of Jabalya, one of Gaza’s many refugee camps.
